Lifestyle Newborn Portrait Photo Sessions for Buffalo and Rochester area moms

Newborn sessions record the beauty of those first few weeks with your new baby. With a lifestyle approach, we don’t worry about posing but focus on recording the feelings of the moments.

These sessions typically take place in the comfort of your own home, although I am open to other locations as well. Fresh 48 sessions take place in the hospital within the first two days after the baby arrives.

The session usually spans around 60-120 minutes, allowing for a comfortable and unhurried experience.

Session packages begin at 395. Please send an inquiry and I will provide you with the full investment guide.

Have Questions?
  • What is the best time during pregnancy for a maternity photo shoot?
The ideal time for a maternity shoot is usually between 28 to 34 weeks. This is when the belly is nicely rounded but before any potential discomfort that comes with the later stages of pregnancy.
  • How should clients prepare for a maternity photo shoot?
Leave the preparation primarily to me! I will help you decide on styling, dress, etc. Of course, if you have any sentimental items you'd like to incorporate into the session, we will discuss this at our consultation!
  • Are there any props you recommend to enhance our maternity photos?
Simple props like baby shoes, ultrasound images, or even a special keepsake can add a personal touch. However, we'll keep the focus primarily on your baby bump and the emotions you're experiencing.
  • We want our maternity photos to feel unique to us. How can we personalize our session?
Your session should reflect your personalities and story. We will discuss your preferences, favorite colors, and any specific themes or ideas you have in mind. This will help us create images that truly resonate with you.
  • What locations are suitable for maternity photo shoots?
The sky is the limit! I have a bunch of gorgeous outdoor locations such as parks, gardens, beaches, and urban areas with interesting backdrops to recommend. We will discuss your vision in depth at our consultation and decide on the best location! We could also do indoor options such as in-home or in-studio.
  • We're wondering if we should include our other children or pets in the photos. What do you think?
Including siblings and pets can add a wonderful dynamic to the photos. We'll capture candid interactions and focus on showcasing the connections between you and your loved ones.
  • What poses do you recommend for maternity photos?
I'll guide you through poses that showcase your baby bump in flattering ways. Classic poses like cradling your belly, profile shots, and intimate moments with your partner or other family members often result in beautiful images.
  • Where should I find dresses?
I have an extensive client closet of available dress options, and will also provide you with personalized styling advice if you're looking for something different than what I can provide. I will also provide styling guides for the rest of the family as well! You'll never have to do it alone!
  • Will you take any photos of our family during our Senior portrait session?
Of course! This is a momentous occasion for all of you, so I will absolutely ask that we begin with a few family portraits (and that way others can leave if they don't want to stick around for the entire session).
  • Can I bring a friend or family member with me?
Yes! Please do! In fact, I love when your family joins us, because I always like to incorporate a few family shots into the session!
  • Can I bring props or include other special interests into the session?
Absolutely! Incorporating props or showcasing your hobbies and interests can add a personal touch to your portraits and make them more meaningful. I've had past seniors bring guitars, sports equipment, etc. I've taken pictures of seniors playing sports, playing the piano, reading...you name it! The goal of this session is to showcase who YOU are!
  • What should I wear for my senior portraits?
I will help you plan, but I typically suggest that you wear outfits that represent your style and make you feel confident. It's a good idea to have a mix of casual and dressy outfits to add variety to your portraits. I do have a client closet that you're welcome to utilize as well!
  • How do I book a Senior Portrait Session?
Contact us through our website or phone, and we will be in touch. We'll guide you through the process and answer any questions you have. Remember, your senior portrait session is all about celebrating you and this exciting phase of your life. We're here to ensure you have an enjoyable experience and stunning portraits that you'll cherish for years to come.
  • What are the best locations for senior portraits?
We will discuss your preferences and ideas at our consultation to choose a location that reflects your personality. Common options include parks, urban settings, your school campus, or places that hold special meaning to you.
  • When should I schedule my senior portrait session?
It's best to schedule your session during your junior or senior year, typically between the months of spring and early fall. This timing allows for a variety of outdoor settings and optimal lighting conditions. Sessions typically will take place an hour or two before sunset for the best light!
  • Can I use these portraits for my yearbook?
Absolutely! We'll provide you with high-resolution images that you can submit to your yearbook staff. Just let us know any specific guidelines they have.
  • Where and when should we schedule our session?
A child portrait session or family photo portrait session can take place in any location that you prefer! The sky is the limit! Popular locations include Delaware park, Kent Park/Webster Arboretum, Webster Park, Hobuck Flats, In-home, Fields....you name it! Child portrait sessions and family photo portrait sessions can be held in any city throughout the Western New York region. If you’re not sure where to hold your session, I will make suggestions based on your preferences and goals. Outdoor photo sessions are held at sunrise or about an hour or two before sunset to ensure gorgeous lighting.
  • What if my kids aren't cooperating?
If your kids aren't cooperating during the session, there's no need to worry. It's entirely normal for children to have moments of shyness, restlessness, or even being uninterested in the process. My priority is to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, ensuring that your children feel comfortable. In such situations, I have a few strategies up my sleeve. We might take breaks for them to play or have a snack, which often helps them relax. I also engage with them using age-appropriate prompts and activities to capture their genuine expressions. Sometimes, the best shots come from those unscripted, candid moments. Remember, the goal is to capture the true spirit of your children, and that includes their unique personalities and moods. I have worked with many children over the years and knows how to adapt to different situations. So, even if your kids aren't entirely cooperative at first, rest assured that we'll still be able to capture beautiful moments that reflect their essence. If your kids aren't cooperating, the most important thing to remember is to not get upset or angry with them! This will create a bad experience for all of us! Trust me to help them become comfortable and to take the time we need! I promise if you do this, you will leave not only with gorgeous images, but treasured memories as well.
  • What should we bring to our session?
Your only focus on picture day is to prepare yourself and your little ones. This is a huge ask by itself! Leave the rest to me. With years of experience capturing families, I am ready for any scenario that unfolds during your time together. To ensure a smooth session, a few helpful items include quilts and chairs for your family to sit on, noise-makers and toys to keep your little ones engaged, meaningful props and accessories, and most importantly – snacks (sometimes treats!) and water for everyone! Remember, my aim is to create a positive experience for your children while minimizing stress for parents. Allow me to handle the details so you can savor these precious moments with your family.
  • How much time will we need for our session?
I prioritize providing children with ample time to feel comfortable during the session, as I understand this leads to the most authentic expressions and an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. That's why our sessions are designed to be unhurried. On average, a family session spans from 45 minutes to 1 hour. This timeframe allows children to adapt to the setting and become at ease with me. They'll have the opportunity to engage in play, enjoy a snack, explore their surroundings, and, amidst the fun, have their photographs taken. With over a decade of experience working with young children, I have honed the art of capturing the unique essence of each child and the profound connections within a family. Let me bring the same expertise to portray your loved ones.
  • Can we include pets?
Absolutely! Our fur babies are family too and they are more than welcome to join you whether it’s an on-location family photoshoot or an in-home session. If we are on-location, I usually just have to confirm that dogs are permitted but in most cases they are. If you can, sometimes it helps to enlist a friend or family member to assist!
  • What should we wear?
For parents and siblings I recommend keeping wardrobe simple for newborn sessions. You don’t want clothing to overshadow your new baby. Neutral colors are perfect for parents. Grey, white, cream, navy, and light blues photograph really nicely indoors. I will help guide you every step of the way! You are also welcome to incorporate my client closet in your images if you wish!
  • What if our home is dark?
I am a natural-light photographer, meaning I do not use any studio lights or flash. Living in the Buffalo/Rochester area, cloudy or dreary days happen (more than we like). If you are afraid that your home will be too dark – we have a few options! We will discuss at your consultation meeting and come up with a plan!
  • Will you pose the baby?
No, I do not pose newborns. I am a lifestyle newborn photographer. “Lifestyle” is a style of portrait photography that aims to capture specific milestones in a real life setting. My shots will include family connection with baby, baby details, baby in nursery, family together in nursery, etc. And I will always use any space in the home with beautiful light.
  • What if the baby is fussy?
Do not stress. My sessions are relaxed and casual. We will take the baby’s lead and feed, change, cuddle as many times as needed. I will provide you a newborn preparation guide to help prepare as much as possible for the session and ensure that baby is sleepy and ready for our session.
  • When are newborn sessions scheduled?
My newborn sessions are usually scheduled 7-21 days after birth but can be done any time really. Newborn sessions are usually done during during the day, depending on the lighting in your home or at our location. Fresh 48 sessions are scheduled within the first 48 hours of the baby birth and take place in the hospital.
  • Do you provide props?
No, but I always encourage my clients to incorporate items that are special to them. For example, furniture heirlooms, special books or toys, vintage blankets and outfits.
  • Can I order prints or albums from you?
Yes, I offer print and album services. You can choose from a variety of options to showcase your portraits in physical form. At your consultation, I'll have samples of all of the various options for you to see and touch!
  • What if I'm not comfortable in front of the camera?
Don't worry! My goal is to make you feel at ease during the session. I'll guide you with poses and prompts to capture natural and relaxed moments.
  • What if the weather's bad the day of our session?
I watch the weather like I think I'm a meteorologist! Sometimes, if we can find a gap in the bad weather, we will have gorgeous skies for our session! Of course, if that adds stress for you, if the weather looks unfavorable, we can always plan to re-schedule! Remember, I want this to be enjoyable and fun! No stress!
  • How long before we get to see our photos?
All images will be shown to you at your viewing/ordering appointment approximately 2-3 weeks after our session!
  • What if we need to reschedule?
I completely understand that life happens! In the event of bad weather or an unforeseen circumstance that conflicts with your scheduled session, I will work with you to find a new date and time!
  • What's the best time of day for outdoor photos?
The ideal time for photos is during golden hour. This occurs 1-2 hours prior to the sun setting. This time of day will give us the prettiest light. I understand however this might not be ideal for little ones. In this case we can easily move to a morning session or move up the start time. Happy kiddos are much more important than the perfect time!
  • What if we want to keep our images private?
These are your photos. If you want to keep them private and not shown on social media, I fully understand and respect that. During the booking process, you will find a model release. You can decline to share and I will honor your request.

I remember it like it was yesterday...

In those initial weeks, you're introduced to a brand new soul that's destined to shape your world in ways you never imagined. As time sweeps forward, it's astounding how those once-tiny beings grow. Reflecting on these cherished moments within my own family through photos and videos fills me with awe. Allow me to guide you in capturing these precious beginnings, creating a timeless treasure you can revisit again and again.
